2011 Carl & Pearl Hagel Memorial Tournament Results

The Carl and Pearl Hagel Golf Tournament was held at Mountain Aire Golf Club on Saturday, April 30, 2011 . One hundred seventeen golfers enjoyed a day of perfect weather, honored the memory of Carl and Pearl Hagel, and helped raise money for the Ashe Free Medical Clinic. The Hagels purchased the nine hole golf course in 1971 and helped expand it to eighteen holes. Carl Hagel died in 1994 and Pearl Hagel in 2009.

The tournament benefited the Ashe Free Medical Clinic, which provides free medical care to the residents of Ashe County who cannot afford medical care. The clinic would like to thank the major sponsors of the tournament: AEV, Mount Jefferson Family Medicine, and UPS , as well as the many others who sponsored holes and donated food and prizes. The clinic would also like to thank many area golf courses who contributed rounds of golf to be used as prizes.

The low score of 53 was turned in by the team of Keith Farmer, Tim Badger, Jason Brown, and Wrenn Johnson. The amazing round included two eagles, 15 birdies and only one par in the eighteen holes of captain’s choice play. The low net score was shot by Trey Scott, David Miller, Beverly Ward, and Adam Ward. They had a terrific round of 55 less their team handicap of 11 to net a 44. The winners won beautiful plaques and rounds of golf contributed by many of the area golf courses.
